Private John Arthur Steele

Born on 22 January 1894 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario - next of kin listed as Mrs. John Steele, Almonte, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as farmer; single; currently a member of the Guelph COTC; no previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 9 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; light complexion; bluish grey eyes; dark brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Guelph, Ontario, on 16 March 1915 (number 411014) - transferred to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, CEF - wounded on 8 May 1916.
