Private Alfred Pretty

Born on 23 June 1894 in Greenwich, Kent, England - son of Mrs. Edith Pretty, Lynn, Norfolk, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Emery, Ontario; trade as farmhand; single; no current or previous military service; Baptist; height of 5 feet 11.75 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; hazel eyes; dark brown hair.

Joined the 126th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 1 March 1916 (number 775913) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 4 or 6 December 1916 - transferred to No.1 Tunnelling Company, CEF, on 5 February or October 1917 - transferred to 8th Battalion, Canadian Engineers, CEF, on 12 July 1918.
