Born on 10 March 1898 in Moose Creek, Ontario - nephew of Mrs. Maggie Darice, Moose Creek, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Moose Creek, Ontario; trade as labourer; single; no current military service; previously served with the 59th Battalion, CEF (six months); Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 6 inches; chest of 37 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; hazel eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 3 January 1917 (number 246805) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 18 or 19 January 1918 - wounded on 26 April 1918 - invalided to England on 1 May 1918.
