Joined the 156th Battalion, CEF, in Brockville, Ontario, on 31 January 1916 (number 639206) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 24 May 1917 - wounded on 2 September 1918 - invalided to England on 5 September 1918.
Awarded the Military Medal - no official citation - unit recommendation dated 5 October 1918: "For Gallantry during the operations in vicinity of Bourlon, 29th Sept 1918."
