Lance-Sergeant James Edward King

Born on 13 October 1877 in Listole, Ontario - brother of Mrs. Leticia McCoy, Queenstown, Australia - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Watertown, New York; trade as chef; single; no current military service; previously served with the United States Navy and Army (eighteen years); Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 7.5 inches; chest of 39.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair; tattoos on arms and legs including stars, alligators, dogs, snakes, coin bracelets and monster.

Joined the 156th Battalion, CEF, in Prescott, Ontario, on 22 September 1916 (number 640225) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 24 May 1917 - wounded on 16 April 1918 - invalided to England on 1 August 1918 - died of sickness in England on 1 August 1919 - buried in Orpington (All Saints) Churchyard Extension (grave G.17), England.
