Private Lorne Hamilton Hewson

Born on 8 August 1896 in Lindsay, Ontario - nephew of Miss Eliza Purdy, Port Hope, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Port Hope, Ontario, trade as student, single, no current military service, previously served with the high school cadets (three years), Church of England, height of 5 feet 6.75 inches, chest of 33 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair.

Joined the 136th Battalion, CEF, in Port Hope, Ontario, on 19 February 1916 (number 805366) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 5 or 6 June 1917 - invalided sick to England on 7 September 1917.
