Seeing this listing of Albert Fickling, I had to respond. His only child Leslie Albert William Fickling (1907-1987) is my father. Having emigrated to Canada prior to Leslie's birth in 1907, Albert's widow Hannah and son Leslie had to return to the UK after the war in 1919 as I believe the rest of the Fickling tribe in the Toronto area were not in a position to support them. They took lodgings in the upper quarters of a London policemen's home and subsequently wooed and married the elder of the policeman's 2 daughters, Victoria in 1934. They went on to have 3 children, Kay in 1936, Derek in 1940 and myself Roger in 1945. Victoria died in 2001 aged 92, all of Albert's 3 grandchildren are alive and reasonably well!
