Born on 16 January 1885 in Trabane County, Galway, Ireland - son of Lawrence Farmer, Trabane, Ireland - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer, single, serving with the Governor General's Foot Guards since 13 January 1915, no previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 8 inches, chest of 39 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair.
