Lance-Corporal William Francis Derosie

Born on 31 January 1894 in Pembroke, Ontario - son of Mrs. Mary Derosie, Pembroke, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer, single, currently a member of the 42nd Regiment's guard at Petawawa (5.5 months), no previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 7.5 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair - at the time of his re-enlistment in 1919: present address in Pembroke, Ontario, single, trade as labourer, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 5.5 inches, weight of 124 pounds, chest of 35 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, grey eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 3 June 1915 (number 410077) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 18 November 1916 - wounded on 3 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 27 September 1918 - invalided sick to England on 16 February 1919.

Joined the Special Guard, CMPC, of the Permanent Force in Ottawa, on 15 September 1919 (number 2779848).
