Joined the 147th Battalion, CEF, in Owen Sound, Ontario, on 27 November 1915 (number 838227) - taken on the strength of the 58th Battalion, CEF, on 9 November 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 August 1918 - rejoined the 58th Battalion on 9 September 1918.
