Joined the 85th Battalion, CEF, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 18 September 1915 (number 222593) - tranferred to the 219th Battalion, CEF, on 10 November 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 19 February 1917 - wounded on 10 April 1917 - invalided to England on 13 April 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 3 June 1918 - wounded on 26 October 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 1 November 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 1 April 1919.
