Born on 3 December 1895 in Consecon, Ontario - son of Frank Cooney, Belleville, Ontario - at time of conscription in 1918: present address same as father, single, Methodist, farmer, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 8 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, blue eyes, dark hair.
Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, on 22 January 1918 (number 4021364) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 October 1918 - died of sickness in France on 28 October 1918 - buried in Queant Road Cemetery (grave I.B.6), France.
