Private John Clough

Born on 22 September 1897 in York, England - son of Mrs. A. Clough, Almonte, Ontario - enlistment records provide the following: trade as millhand, single, no current or previous military service, Baptist of Congregationalist, height of 5 feet 2 inches, chest of 34 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, brown eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 80th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 26 August 1915 (number 219162) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in England on 11 July 1916 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 29 November 1916 - invalided sick to England on 19 April 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 11 November 1917 - wounded on 28 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 9 December 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 14 February 1919.
