Joined the 240th Battalion, CEF, in Renfrew, Ontario, on 4 November 1916 (number 1042306) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 30 October 1917 - invalided to England on 8 November 1917 - later served with the Canadian Army Postal Corps.
