Joined the 38th Battalion on 20 May 1915 (number 410237) - served with the battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 18 November 1916 - invalided to England on 3 December 1916 - rejoined the battalion on 22 April 1917 - wounded on 26 June 1917 - invalided to England on 5 July 1917.
