Born on 11 December 1885 - husband of Sarah Elizabeth Smeall, Billings Bridge, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as wife; trader as baker[?]; married; no current military service; previously served with the military; Baptist; height feet of 5 feet 7.5 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 26 August 1916 (number 246674) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 September 1917 - struck off strength to England for duty on 9 February 1919.
