Joined the 97th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 28 December 1915 (number 207260) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 February 1917 - wounded on 5 or 7 April 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 30 April 1917 - sent to England for Officer's Training Course on 14 September 1917 - commissioned as a lieutenant with the 7th Reserve Battalion, CEF, on 26 January 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 3 June 1918 - killed in action on 2 September 1918 - buried in Dury Mill British Cemetery (grave I.D.26), France.
