Born on 5 March 1897 in Walsall, England - brother of Joseph Reddy, Mascouche, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Westboro, Ontario; trade as butcher; single; no current or previous military service; Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 4.5 inches; chest of 35.5 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; brown eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 19 June 1916 (number 246511) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 18 or 19 January 1918 - struck off strength of the 38th Battalion as a "minor" on 28 March 1918.
