Private Bernard Richards

Born on 8 February 1885 in Callington[?], England - son of Mr. H. Richards, Callington[?], England - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Craigmule, Alberta; trade as clergyman; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 2 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 13th Regiment, Canadian Mounted Rifles, CEF, in Hanna, Alberta, on 10 April 1916 (number 228159) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 30 or 31 May 1917 - invalided sick to England on 21 December 1917 - later served with the Canadian Forestry Corps, CEF - promoted to acting-sergeant.
