Joined the 1st Field Ambulance, CEF, in Vernon, British Columbia, on 24 July 1915 (number 400061) - taken on the strength of the Canadian Army Medical Corps, CEF, in France on 11 March 1917 - commissioned as a lieutenant with the 7th Reserve Battalion, CEF, on 2 September 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 23 August 1918 - invalided sick to England on 22 February 1919.
