Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 11 February 1915 (number 410173) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - transferred to the 3rd Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, on 18 November 1915 - wounded on 6 December 1915 - transferred to the 3rd Trench Mortar Battery, CEF, on 25 June 1916 - transferred to the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column, CEF, on 15 July 1916 - transferred to the 12th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, on 31 July 1916 - transferred to the 3rd Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, on 22 August 1916 - wounded on 7 October 1916 - transferred to the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column on 24 April 1917 - transferred to the 9th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, on 14 November 1917.
