Sergeant John Francis Mooney

Born on 29 December 1886 in London, England - son Oliver Austin and Sarah Elizabeth Mooney, Stratford, London, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as farmer; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 6.5 inches; chest of 37 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; grey brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 70th Battalion, CEF, in Chatham, Ontario, on 4 October 1915 (number 123941) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 February 1917 - killed in action on 9 April 1917 - buried in Givenchy-en-Gohelle Canadian Cemetery (grave F.14), France.
