Private Albert Montara

Born on 5 July 1888 in Queensland, Australia - husband of Bessie Montara, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address same as wife; trade as farmer; married; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 6.25 inches; chest of 36.5 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark hair.

Joined the 1st Depot Battalion, 2nd Central Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 21 November 1917 (number 3105713) - taken on the strength of the 58th Battalion, CEF, on 1 or 2 June 1918 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 August 1918 - wounded on 28 September 1918 - invalided to England on 30 September 1918.

  1. Hi Ken. This appears to be my Great Uncle however his name was ALFRED not Albert. He was born here in Queensland and is the brother of my Grandfather Frederick George Montara. Alfred was married to Bessie (nee Simpson) and eventually lived in Philadelphia, PA where his grandsons still live.
