Joined the 126th Battalion, CEF, on 4 January 1916 (number 775120) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 4 or 6 December 1916 - injured accidentally and invalided to England on 24 May 1918.
Awarded the Military Medal - no official citation - unit recommendation dated 6 November 1917: "During the operations in the Passchendaele Ridge Area this N.C.O. displayed splendid qualities of leadership and the greatest devotion to duty."
