Private Alfred Alexander Meldrum

Born on 14 May 1896 in Glasgow, Scotland - friend of George Townsend, North Wakefield, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in North Wakefield, Quebec; trade as driver; single; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 7.5 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 20 March 1916 (number 246061) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 29 or 30 November 1917 - transferred to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, CEF, on 7 December 1917 - wounded on 29 or 30 August 1918 - [then] - joined the Special Guard, CMPC, (Permanent Force), in Ottawa, Ontario, on 16 September 1919.
