Sergeant Malcolm Leslie McNee

Born on 16 April 1899 in Renfrew County, Ontario - son of Mrs. M. McNee, Ashdod[?], Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Ottawa, Ontario; trade as office clerk; single; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 8.5 inches; chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; brown eyes; brown hair.

Joined the Signals Training Depot, Canadian Engineers, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 21 May 1917 (number 2043119) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 June 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.

Awarded a Mention in Despatches - no official citation - unit recommendation dated 26 December 1918: "Recommended for Mention in 'Peace Despatch' for services as Clerk in Battalion Orderly Room."
