Born on 27 December 1894 in Hertfordshire, England - son of John and the late Mary Ann Mead, Hertfordshire, England - brother of John Mead, Depeyster Corners, New York - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Inkerman, Ontario; trade as farmer; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 1 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; light complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 154th Battalion, CEF, in South Mountain, Ontario, on 29 February 1916 (number 633606) - taken on the strength of the 4th Labour Battalion, CEF, on 17 February or 14 March 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 April 1918 - killed in action on 10 August 1918 - name inscribed on the Vimy Memorial, France.
