Private John McManus

Born on 23 April 1889 in St. Eugene, Ontario - husband of Mary McManus, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his conscription in 1918: present address same as wife; married; Roman Catholic; trade as switch board man at Bell Telephone; no current or previous military service; height of 5 feet 10.5 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; height of 162.5 pounds; medium complexion; blue eyes; black hair.

Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 16 February 1918 (number 3056696) - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 13 September 1918 - wounded on 27 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 9 December 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
