Sergeant James Hugh McCormick

Born on 24 February 1892 in San Juan, Puerto Rico - son of Mrs. Maria Dolores McCormick, St. Michael, Barbados, British West Indies - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as student; single; currently a member of the Macdonald College Officers' Training Corps; previously served with the Barbados Volunteers (three years as a Corporal and signaler); Church of England; height of 5 feet 8.1 inches; chest of 37 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; grey eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Montreal, Quebec, on 11 March 1915 (number 419058) - transferred to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 16 July 1915 - died on 16 September 1915 of wounds received that day - buried in Albert Communal Cemetery Extension (grave I.O.39), France.
