Private Leonard James McConnell

Born on 4 September 1898 in Leeds, England[?] - son of P.J. McConnell, Lyndhurst, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Lyndhurst, Ontario; trade as school teacher; single; no current military service; previously served with high school cadets (three years); Church of England; height of 5 feet 4 inches; chest of 31.5 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 73rd Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 15 February 1917 (number 343994) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - killed in action on 1 November 1917 - name inscribed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (panel 10-18-26-28), Belgium.
