Private Arthur McDonald

Born on 1 March 1897 in Dunmore, Antigonish, Nova Scotia - son of Mrs. Harriet McDonald, Redwillow, Alberta - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current or previous military service; Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 9.5 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; grey eyes; dark brown hair.

Joined the 89th Battalion, CEF, in Calgary, Alberta, on 9 December 1915 (number 183844) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 16 or 17 February 1917 - wounded on 26 June 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 24 January 1918 - wounded on 19 or 20 May 1918 - died of those wounds on 23 May 1918 - buried in Etaples Military Cemetery (grave LXV.D.18), France.
