Captain Donald Henry Hammell

Born on 6 March 1894 in Elderslie Township, Bruce County, Ontario - son of Mrs. Selina Hammell, Owen Sound, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as dentist, single, no current or previous military service, Presbyterian, height of 6 feet 0 inches, chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair.

Joined the Canadian Army Dental Corps on 18 June 1915 - attached to the 38th Battalion, CEF, as a captain from 18 June 1915 - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - ceased to be attached to the 38th Battalion on 12 August 1916 - transferred to the Canadian Army Dental Corps in France as a dental officer from 5 December 1917 to 16 April 1919.
