Joined the 156th Battalion, CEF, in Barriefield Camp, Ontario, on 9 August 1916 (number 640206) - taken on the strength of the 3rd Labour Battalion, CEF, on 4 April 1917 - transferred to the 4th Labour Battalion, CEF, on 21 November 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool on 17 December 1917 - transferred to the 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion, CEF, on 5 June 1918 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 19 or 20 September 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 31 December 1918.
