Born on 8 September 1888 in London, England - son of Alfred Grellier, London, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, trade as poultry farmer, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 8.5 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair.

Joined the 176th Battalion, CEF, in St. Catharines, Ontario, on 10 August 1916 (number 850885) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 8 or 9 April 1918 - wounded on 27 or 28 September 1918 - invalided to England on 30 September 1918.
