Private Arthur Maynard James Griffiths

Born on 14 April 1879 in Abergavenny, Wales - husband of Ethel Gustavus, Montreal, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1914: trade as mechanical engineer, married, currently a member of the 51st Soo Rifles in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, previously served with the Canadian South African Contingent (1901) and as an artificer in the Royal Navy (1903 to 1905), Church of England, height of 5 feet 7.75 inches, chest of 37 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair.

Joined the 24th Battalion, CEF, in Montreal, Quebec, on 4 December 1914 - struck off the strength of the 24th Battalion on 31 January 1915 - joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 17 May 1915 (number 411161) - transferred to the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 16 July 1915.
