Private William Napoleon Gray

Born on 8 August 1894 in Montreal, Quebec - son of Mrs. Amanda Gray, Sanford, Maine - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as mother, trade as painter and musician, single, no current or previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 7.5 inches, chest of 35 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair.

Joined the 230th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 1 August 1916 (number 1012511) - taken on the strength of the Canadian Forestry Corps, CEF, on 21 July 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 19 or 20 October 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 5 May 1919.
