Joined the 80th Battalion, CEF, in Belleville, Ontario, on 21 April 1916 (number 219017) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in England on 18 July 1916 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion in England on 1 August 1916 - taken on the strength of the 72nd Battalion, CEF, on 12 August 1916 - later promoted to lance-corporal - killed in action on 1 November 1917 - name inscribed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (panel 18-28-30), Belgium.
