Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 22 January 1915 (number 410747) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - transferred to Headquarters, 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, on 31 December 1915.
