Private Robert Victor Dufty

Born on 10 March 1897 in Lutterworth Township, Haliburton County, Ontario - son of Van Dufty, "D" Company, 75th Battalion, Toronto, Ontario, and Margaret Elizabeth Dudty, Kingston, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Kinmount, Ontario, trade as carpenter, single, no current or previous military service, Presbyterian, height of 5 feet 4.5 inches, chest of 37 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair.

Joined the 109th Battalion, CEF, in Kinmount, Ontario, on 11 February 1916 (number 726130) - taken on the strenght of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 4 or 6 December 1916 - invalided sick to England on 17 April 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 11 November 1917 - wounded on 28 May 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 6 June 1918 - wounded on 8 August 1918 - invalided to England on 11 August 1918.

Died of sickness on 10 July 1919 - buried in Kingston (Cataraqui) Cemetery (grave Mil. range, 3, Sec. G.14), Kingston, Ontario.

  1. I made a small error. Van was the father of both Robert and Albert. Van and Albert both served in the 75th CEF. Van was my Great-Great Grandfather. Very cool. Thanks for the research.
