Lieutenant Andrew Warwick Duncan, MC

Born on 6 May 1890 in Kells County, Antrim, Ireland - son of Archibald Duncan, Kells County, Antrim, Ireland - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Swastika, Ontario, trade as broker, Presbyterian, currently a member of the 97th Algonquin Rifles, no previous military service.

Joined the 159th Battalion, CEF, in Sudbury, Ontario, as a lieutenant on 1 January 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 7 December 1916 - killed in action on 9 April 1917 - buried in Villers Station Cemetery (grave IX.A.3), France.

Awarded the Military Cross - official citation: "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a raiding party. He gallantly led his men into the enemy trench, in spite of heavy fire, and carried out the task allotted to him with conspicuous success." - unit recommendation: "For gallantry and devotion to duty. Raid Feb 22."
