Born on 16 July 1895 in New Bedford, Massachusetts - son of Peter Davis, New Bedford, Massachusetts - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, trade as mill operator, single, no current military service, previously served in the Coast Artillery, Massachusetts, Church of England, height of 5 feet 7.5 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, brown eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 97th Battalion, CEF, in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, on 17 February 1916 (number 925371) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 November 1917 - wounded on 26 April 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 10 May 1918 - wounded on 2 or 4 October 1918 - invalided to England on 4 October 1918 - transferred to the 7th Machine Gun Company, Canadian Machine Gun Corps, on 13 or 14 October 1918.
