Coulson, Embro, Ontario - at time of enlistment in 1916: present address in RR #3 Embro, Ontario, trade as farmer, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 11.25 inches, chest of 39 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair.
Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 22 May 1916 (number 190322) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 8 October 1917.
Awarded the Military Medal - no citation - unit recommendation dated 17 April 1917: "Performed valuable work as linesman in keeping up communication between B.H.Q. and advanced position during operation of Apr. 9/17."
