Private Henry George Clarke

Born on 4 August 1891 in Kent, England - son of Thomas and F.H. Clarke, Kent, England - enlistment records provide the following: trade as labourer, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 2.5 inches, chest of 33 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 77th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 27 July 1915 (number 144645) - departed Canada for overseas on 19 June 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in England on 6 July 1916 - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 19 November 1916 - invalided to England on 24 November 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 4 April 1917 - wounded on 26 June 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 26 July 1917 - died on 13 January 1918 of the wounds he received that day - buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension (grave III.C.14), France.
