Private Alexander Marshall Connell

Born on 18 August 1895 in Dumferline, Scotland - son of Mary Henderson Connell, Collingwood, Ontario - at time of enlistment in 1915: trade as ironworker, single, no current military service, previously served two years as a private in the bugle band of The Simcoe Foresters, Presbyterian, height of 5 feet 5.5 inches, chest of 35 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 81st or 157th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 12 October 1915 (number 157555) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 or 28 March 1918 - wounded on 16 April 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1918 - killed in action on 1 September 1918 - buried in Wancourt British Cemetery (grave VIII.D.1), France.
