Joined the 204th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Toronto, Ontario, on 16 March 1916 (number 237129) - taken on the strength of the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion in France on 27 or 28 March 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.

Awarded the Military Medal - no citation - unit recommendation on 7 September 1918: "For gallantry during Scarpe Operations, Sept 1st and 2nd 1918."
