Private George Gabriel Boland, MM

Born on 29 October 1870 in Wexham, North Wales - uncle of Patrick Flannigan, Wexham, North Wales - attestation form notes trade as sailor, single, no current military service, previously served nine months in 9th Infantry Regiment WSA[?], height of 5 feet 3.5 inches, chest of 36 inches, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, Roman Catholic.

Joined the 38th Battalion in Brockville, Ontario, on 5 March 1915 (number 410457) - served with the battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the battalion on 13 August 1916 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool on 26 April 1918.

Awarded the Military Medal (announced 13 March 1918) - no citation - unit recommendation undated: "For bravery in the Field".
