Acting-Sergeant William Hume Beach

Born on 21 December 1896 in Beachburg, Ontario - son of Mrs. Christina Beach, Pembroke, Ontario - attestation form notes trade as clerk, single, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 8.25 inches, dark complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, Wesleyan.

Joined the 38th Battalion on 16 March 1915 (number 410238) - served with the battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 18 November 1916 - rejoined the battalion on 1 January 1917 - wounded on 26 June 1917 - invalided to England on 6 July 1917 - later served with the Canadian Forestry Corps.
