Joined the Canadian Army Service Corps on 16 April 1917 (number 514272) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 27 or 28 March 1918 - killed in action on 2 September 1918 during the advance to the Drocourt-Queant Line when he was instantly killed by enemy shrapnel - his body was found between Moulin Damiens and the Sand Pit - buried in Dury Mill Cemetery (grave I.C.20), France.
